If you have a millennial living at home, and chances are that you do, keeping their rooms clean can feel like a lost battle. Give them a choice! Ask them if they would like to visit a dealer and negotiate for a vehicle purchase or to clean their room......it's likely they will opt for the latter. Millennials, those individuals, born between 1982 & 2002 (ages 15-35 as of 2017), actually would prefer to clean their room, or something else unpleasant! According to a Harris poll completed in July, 2016, 56% of millennial-age vehicle shoppers would rather do something unpleasant than negotiate with a car dealer. And it is even more prevalent for females in this age group. This is an intriguing concept for those of us with children in this age range. While it would seem that they have mastered the art of negotiating with their parents (or believe that they have), the stigma associated with the car-buying experience today is not encouraging to up and coming drivers. So, they'll negotiate all day long about their curfew, but when it comes time for them to need a vehicle to get to college or their job, it's got to be via a means that doesn't involve negotiating with a dealer.
For you parents out there, with or without children at home, a resounding 70+% of you would rather do anything else than negotiate for a car purchase. And, in case you are wondering what the stats are for the general population? Hold on to your seats......the data indicates that 87% of you dislike at least something about the process.
