".....and Alex will get you taken care of." The business office, also known as the F&I Office, is a critical department in any dealership operation. F&I stands for 'Finance & Insurance', but there are many other items that are dealt with during this step. While this is where you finalize how you are paying for the vehicle, there are many options for you as the buyer, and the more informed you are, the better, and more smoothly things can go. This can be the most time-consuming part of the vehicle purchase process, though it really doesn't have to be. Consumer research tells us that the most frustrating and often controversial step in the automotive purchase process is the time it takes to get all of the paperwork done, and get on your way. Many times it can take so long that the important need for you to spend time understanding your vehicle operations (and new electronic connectivity benefits in many vehicles), is a step that is missed. If it is not missed, it can often be rushed. This is where you can take the reins. There are many articles that attempt to provide tips and tools for beating this often grueling (adjective; extremely tiring & demanding) part of the car-buying process. We, at The Car Maven, will be providing insights and education on the entire universe of car buying and what you should expect for a positive environment for you or your family member.
Manufacturers and dealers are aware of this and consider the challenge a key area for improvement. In fact, one brand, Hyundai, has taken this to a new level. Hyundai announced on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, that they are introducing "Shopper Assurance" as a "new way to buy cars". This new program includes 1) Transparent pricing, 2) Flexible Test Drives , 3) Streamlined Purchase, and 4) A 3-day Money Back Guarantee. As with any new strategy led by the manufacturer, there is ramp-up time across the dealer network. And, not all dealers will choose to participate; the program is being launched in Texas and Florida and is only available there for now. Good Job, Hyundai! This is definitely the right direction!
